It does have some strong cultural themes and backdrops which may be lost on someone not from S.Korea, but a little research after watching it ties it all together. Personally, I rank Memories as my 3rd favorite South Korean film, with Parasite as 1 and The Wailing as 2.

Apr 11, 2024 · About a year ago I watched a cinematography analysis on this film and it made me appreciate the director that much more. It was fascinating. It is called Memories of Murder Hidden in Plain Sight on yt. I am a sucker for great amazing cinematography that helps tell the story outside of the characters, action and dialogue.
Apr 10, 2022 · Memories of murder goes beyond the whodunit and uses the case to speak about a lot of other things like the quick transformation of South Korea. That's the smart approach. Not only that but the murderer was finally caught three years ago and he was nt even among the suspects in the movie, not even the last one.
Feb 26, 2024 · Assuming your 4K player is similar to the UBP-X700 that I have, when Dolby Vision mode is switched on and HDR is set to auto mode, and I am watching a SDR bluray (2K or 4K discs), my player applies a kind of HDR tonemap that approximates an HDR look, but can change the visual feel of the content noticeably.
After seeing Parasite, I really want to watch this, but the only dvd I found is a 90$ dvd on Amazon, and it isn’t available on any streaming or rental service. There is an upload of it on YouTube as a last resort, but I’d like to support the creators, so does anyone know a way I can do that?

Just finished watching Memories of Murder directed by the one and only Bong Joon-ho and thought it was a fantastic film and kept me hooked the entire time. Ive also watched Parasite which is the only other movie ive watched from Bong Joon-ho. As you could probably tell, I'm into Thriller Crime movies or shows.
