Feb 4, 2022 · After looking online, I tried a repair install of Windows. That only made the issue worse. I cant even open the Microsoft Store at all now and the troubleshooter gets stuck at "Starting BITS Service". The BITS Service starting message still persists. If anybody has any ideas on what'll work it would be greatly appreciated.
Oct 24, 2023 · The fact that both Windows Update and BITS troubleshooters advise that BITS service registration is missing or corrupted is of concern to me. I have tried to repair, reset and re-install Microsoft store many times, without success.
Here are the steps you can try. -Press Windows key + X. -Go to Settings. -Click Update and Security. -Click Troubleshooter then Additional troubleshooter. -Look for Windows Update and run the troubleshooter. -Click Start, type CMD and run as administrator. -Copy and paste each of the commands below and hit Enter.

Sep 24, 2016 · I found this to be the problem when trying to upgrade one of my machine to the new Windows 10 Anniversary Version (1607). I've had 28 failed attempts to install the upgrade on that computer with 2 primary of errors being reported on fail. One was related to the BITS service. Nov 23, 2016 · Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) transfers files in the background using network bandwidth. If the service is not running then Windows Update which depends on BITS is unable to automatically download updates. I have repeatedly reset BITS to run Automatically but it keeps going to Manual or sometimes Automatic (Delayed Start).

Nov 7, 2017 · BITS constantly STOPS in Windows 10. Windows Update constantly fails, because BITS service and Cryptographic service continually stop after my restarting them manually, although they are set on Automatic. Windows Troubleshooter fixes the problem, then it recurs as BITS etc Stops yet again. This is a known problem since at least 2016.
