As stated before, Ash and Misty's friendship started off very rocky, with constant bickering and Misty's reason for travelling with Ash only being that he hasn't repaid her for destroying her bike. But even in the earlier stages, signs of Misty's interest in Ash was present.
XY/DP for me feels like the best iterations of Ash in terms of both art design and personality. DP Ash was the culmination of his previous character arcs in OS and AG with a more mature bent to him (albeit with parts of his goofy side still somewhat intact) while XY Ash is pretty much DP but the mature, role model side taken up to 11. Hey guys! As you may have heard, Ash is set to be retired from the anime starting with the new series in April 2023. I have mixed feelings on this, on one hand, Ash has had plenty of screen time, he's been the protagonist for a quarter of a century at this point and has starred in over 1000 episodes and like 20 movies.
