Jan 3, 2014 · Hey reddit people, I just saw 'The Spectacular Now' and have done quite a bit of reading into it. The thing that bothers me is the ending. Most of the review sites that I've read sees Shailene Woodley's character Aimee, smiling at Sutter (Miles Teller). The look on her face, in my opinion is not very optimistic about their relationship at all.

I'm 4 years late because I found this link on Google and I just wanna say, The Way Way Back, and The Spectacular Now are 2 of my favorite movies ever. There's something that's just really raw and genuine about their dialogue and the emotional delivery of the characters through their delivery of lines, facial expressions, and even body language that feels more realistic in interactions than most movies.
