Sutradhar does not work directly with children, but with caregivers and teachers, because we believe they have the potential to influence many more children. As a non-profit organisation we have developed educational solutions in response to the needs of marginalised children – including children with special needs and learners in government schools and anganwadis.
The Sutradhar shop brings together a range of play material, teaching aids, folk games, children’s books and teachers’ books. Teacher development workshops are organised by Sutradhar to promote interactive ways of teaching and learning using a variety of resources. Sutradhar initiated the Karnataka chapter for FORCES - Forum for Crèche and Childcare Services, in 2001. FORCES is a national advocacy group for the young, underprivileged child. In 2003, Sutradhar compiled detailed profiles of about 50 non-profit organisations and individuals working in Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) in Bangalore for FORCES.
