Sree Sankara College was established with a vision to perpetuate the memory of the Great Acharya and Saint Sree Sankaracharya. Swami Agamananda founded this college in 1953. The institution was raised to the status of a first grade college in 1956. It is affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University and is included under section 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC act, 1956. The patronage of the college became vested in His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Sri Sankaracharya Swamigal of Sringeri, from 1960 onwards.
