Marcus and Stylax win big on the chariot race but Marcus fails to get a date with Cynthia so instead he takes out new resident Amada, unaware that she is a prostitute. Stylax uses his winnings to pose as a charioteer but cannot afford an actual chariot.

Marcus, Grumio and Jason enlist in the military with hopes of an easy ride, societal perks, and most importantly, no conflict. Of course, this is short lived as they are marched to the north of Europe to battle Barbarians. Naturally, the uptight Marcus does not assimilate well, unlike his slave and conflicted friend.
Plebs is set in Ancient Rome and features two friends, Marcus and Stylax who work as Office Clerks. The third central character is their slave Grumio, they all three share a rather basic flat in a back street area of the city.
