Everything about this film SHOULD work, the fundamentals are there: original story, acclaimed cast, aloof social satire of LA’s seedy underbelly a la Mulholland Drive; (although the two are drastically different) so why doesn’t it work? Something feels inherently off, but is it just its modernity?
