Rani Lakshmibai, also known as Rani of Jhansi, was a prominent leader of the Indian Rebellion of 1857 against the British East India Company. She was the wife of the Maharaja of Jhansi, who died in 1853, and fought to protect her kingdom and the Maratha Empire.
