Mar 17, 2016 · In the phrase "I'm home", the word "home" is an adverb (compare the phrase "to go home"). PS, "I am university" or "I am supermarket" are grammatically incorrect, because these are singular nouns. Adding the article "a" would make them grammatically correct but still nonsensical. –

You would use "I'm home" more to indicate that you just arrived there. Maybe to someone who was expecting you or wanted you to let them know you made it home safely.

You should also normally be able to do something like a cute baby-> the baby is cute, i.e. make it into a predicative construction from an attributive one, but with home appliances this doesn't work (*appliances are home).

By default "go home" communicates the opposite. Choosing go in "then I'll go home" might communicate that you remember they're staying at their mom's tonight.
