Dec 3, 2018 · Because if Solanke wants the move to happen and Tottenham is eventually going to force your hand anyway then you'll still need a replacement. If you don't get that replacement in on time you're essentially screwed for the whole season. So you take the 5 million haircut, but buy yourself enough time to get a replacement in.
