Bikash Bhattacharjee (21 June 1940 – 18 December 2006) was an Indian painter from Kolkata in West Bengal. Through his paintings, he depicted the life of the average middle-class Bengali – their aspirations, superstitions, hypocrisy and corruption, and even the violence that is endemic to Kolkata.

Born in Kolkata in 1940, Bikash Bhattacharjee lost his father at a very early age. In 1963, he graduated from Indian College of Art and Draftsmanship. He joined the same college as professor in 1968.
In late 1960s – early 1970s, Bhattacharjee created a series of surreal paintings, with a sub-text of the demonic or subhuman in a setting of either dark fantasy or comic drama. Bhattacharjee collaborated with writer Samwesh Bose and illustrated a fictionalized biography of artist Ram Kinkar Baij.
