  5. Jul 30, 2024 · TOTK has my fav tools and mechanics to actually traverse and explore the open world. Elden Ring has the most enjoyable combat for an open world. RDR2 has the best atmosphere and is the most immersive to me. I'd say those three choices are the best open world games for different reasons. But overall I'd probably say RDR2 or TOTK.

  6. Jul 30, 2024 · Here's my observations after playing for an hour on PS5 Performance mode: 1. Performance in cutscenes is 30 FPS but not fixed. First snow area has some really bad drops in the intro cutscene and at the end of it. 2. VA isn't great but it's much better than Trials. 3. Combat is fun, definitely the best part of the demo.

  7. Aug 13, 2024 · Played through the demo. I mostly liked it. It definitely felt a bit low budget. The cutscenes felt almost unfinished. Lots of framerate drops, sort of floaty characters, animations that continued after a character was finished talking, etc. The game itself mostly played well enough. I noticed some framerate drops here and there.

Version 5.0 patch notes didn't mention any graphical improvements such as the addition of Global Illumination in version 4.0 either. To me it looks like lighting and texture quality were enhanced, especially on character models.

The world is also meant to be smaller and more vertical.

  10. Jul 1, 2024 · If you want a real answer: It's because FROM is incredibly mercenary about what they do and do not do for animations, or graphical things in general. The scope and variety in their games get made by focusing on the things that matter most and doing them very well. Remember - most Souls NPCs don't even have lip flap for dialogue.
