As an advocate for African-American equality, she was a leader for the civil rights movement in the 1960s.
She persisted. In early 1952, a friend introduced Coretta Scott and Martin King. It was clear early on that Martin was smitten. “You have everything I have ever wanted in a wife,” he told Coretta as he drove her home after their first date.
