Pratapgad is a mountain fort located in Satara district, in the Western Indian state of Maharashtra. The fort is situated 24 kilometres from the Mahabaleshwar hill station. The fort is now a popular tourist destination. The fort's historical significance is due to the Battle of Pratapgad, which took place here on 10 November 1659, between Shivaji I and Bijapur Sultanate general Afzal Khan.

Pratapgad is a hill fort in Maharashtra. Situated close to the famous hill station of Mahabaleshwar in the district of Satara, the citadel rises to an elevation of about 3500 feet from the ground. There is a watchtower just beside the Mahadarwaza, or the main entrance, at the end of the motorable road.

Located on the outskirts of Mahabaleshwar, the Pratapgad Fort is perched at a height of 1,100 ft above sea level and offers spectacular views of surrounding green valleys and the imposing mountain range. It is divided into two parts. The sprawling lower fort has 10-12 m high towers and bastions at corners on projecting spurs. It is built on the southern and eastern terraces.
