Regina Spektor is a Jewish American singer-songwriter and pianist. Born in Moscow in 1980 to a musical Russian Jewish family, Spektor learned to play piano at an early age. Her music is influenced by folk, punk, rock, Jewish, Russian, hip hop, jazz, and classical music styles.
With her surreal lyrics and experimental vocalizations, Regina Spektor carved a place for herself in the anti-folk music scene and went on to conquer the pop charts. Spektor emigrated from Russia with her family in 1989 and settled in the Bronx.
