Carl Maria Friedrich Ernst von Weber was born in Eutin, in what is now northern Germany, around 19 November 1786, the son of the composer and violinist Franz Anton Weber and his second wife, Genovefa Weber (née Brenner). Weber's early life was dominated by his father, a man who had seemingly boundless energy and no small amount of sheer gall.
The German composer Carl Maria von Weber (1786–1826) is best known for his operas, of which he wrote 10 between 1798 and 1826. His first four exist in various states: Die Macht der Liebe und des Weins [ de ] ( comp. 1798) is completely lost; two fragments survive for Das Waldmädchen (1800); the libretto to Peter Schmoll und seine Nachbarn (1803) is lost; and only three numbers from Rübezahl ( comp. 1804–05) survive.

Trio for Piano, Flute and Cello in G minor, Op. 63, J. 259 was composed by Carl Maria von Weber in 1818–1819 and published the next year. It is the only piano trio he ever wrote, albeit scored for flute rather than the more conventional violin, and is one of his most substantial chamber pieces. A typical performance lasts 21-25 min.
