Wayde van Niekerk (South African English: / ˈ w eɪ d f ʌ n n iː ˈ k ɛər k /, Afrikaans: [fan niˈkɛrk]; born 15 July 1992) is a South African track and field sprinter who competes in the 200 and 400 metres.
Wayde van Niekerk will not compete in the men's 400m at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The South African won the gold medal at Rio 2016 in the event and holds the world record after breaking Michael Johnson's time in winning the final in Brazil.
