In 2010, Robert M. Sertner departed to start Bob Sertner Productions at ABC Studios, and in the meantime, von Zerneck himself renamed the production company back to Frank von Zerneck Films. The film begins with a brutal, cold-blooded triple murder. Sergeant Larry Starczek (Tom Selleck) heads the investigation, with his lover, attorney Muriel Wynn (Monica Potter) taking a close interest. A half-witted small-time hustler named Romeo 'Squirrel' Gandolph (Glenn Plummer) is arrested, soon confesses and ends up on death row.
