The name Viv Richards is often associated with his destructive batting style (and rightly so), but not many remember him as one of the best captains for West Indies.
Perhaps the highlight of his Test career was the 1976 tour to England where he massacred the English bowling attack, scoring a whopping 829 runs in five Test matches at an average of 118.42, with a highest score of 291 in the fifth and final Test that has remained his career-best. Richards’ fireworks helped West Indies win the series 3-0.
