Synopsis. The film is about a mathematical genius, Maximilian Cohen (Sean Gullette), who narrates much of the movie. Max, an unemployed number theorist, theorizes that everything in nature can be understood through numbers, and that if you graph the numbers properly patterns will emerge.

Jul 10, 1998 · High contrast black and white film, effective and innovative camerawork, and well done editing make Pi an enjoyable experience. The plot, the barely connected math terms, the mediocre acting, and (at times) laughable dialogue take off some major points for the promising director Aronofsky.
