It was originally produced by Associated British Corporation, and from mid-1968 by Thames Television. Stars: Harry H. Corbett, Paul Whitsun-Jones, Billie Whitelaw, Neil McCallum.
The book traces her efforts to find her "real" father with understanding and compassion, along the way weaving in Plater's love of jazz. Someone once said that his writing is like the music of a great jazz musician. I wouldn't argue with that. I will confess to having known Alan Plater a little - a real privilege.
