Born in Hungary in 1949, Robert (Janos) Lantos immigrated to Uruguay in 1958 and Canada in 1963. He studied film and literature at McGill University and formed a small company with his friend Victor Loewy, Vivafilm, in 1972.
His family fled the 1956 Hungarian Revolution, and one of Canada’s most high profile and successful film producers Robert Lantos was raised in Montevideo, Uruguay. Coming to Canada in 1963, he graduated from McGill University and formed his first company, Vivafilm, with close friend Victor Loewy in 1972.
