The Institute offers four undergraduate (B. Tech.) programs in engineering. IIT Goa follows a semester system. An academic year (July-April) consists of two semesters, each of approximately 16 weeks duration. The first semester begins in the last week of July and ends by the last week of November.

The Institute offers facilities for work leading to Ph.D. in various research areas. IIT Goa offers Ph.D. Programmes in wide range of areas in Engineering, Science, and Humanities and Social Sciences since the academic year 2018-19. Institute follows a semester system.
IIT Goa admission to all its UG and PG courses is offered through national-level entrance examinations. The institute accepts JEE Advanced scores for admission to its flagship BTech program. Candidates seeking admission must qualify for JEE Main to appear for the JEE Advanced exam followed by the JoSAA Counselling seat allotment process.
