Nov 16, 2021 · Bolo Yeung, real name, Yang Sze, was born on 27 February 1946 in Guangzhou, China. He is prominently known for his adept martial art skills. Yeung began his martial arts training when he was ten years old, studying under several kung fu masters. As he grew up, he built an interest in bodybuilding, and his robust passion for competitive bodybuilding landed him the title of Mr. Hong Kong bodybuilding champion for ten years. He was dubbed Chinese Hercules after that.
Bolo Yeung gained huge popularity in the west following the international success of Canon Films’ 1988 fight movie Bloodsport, in which he played the enigmatic but evil Kumite champion Chong Li. The film cost only $1.5m and launched the career of Jean-Claude Van Damme, who would personally request a rematch with Bolo Yeung for his 1991 film Double Impact.
