Undercover FBI agent Frank Castle (Thomas Jane) is crushed when his wife and children are killed after accidentally witnessing a mafia hit. With nothing left to lose or to live for, Castle becomes "The Punisher" -- a one-man judge, jury and executioner who declares open season on criminals throughout America. Based on the Marvel Comics character, the film also stars John Travolta, Laura Harring, Samantha Mathis and Rebecca Romijn-Stamos.
Castle and his father (Roy Scheider) kill several of the attackers before Castle's father is killed. Castle's wife and son try to escape in a jeep, but Saint runs over them with a truck, killing them. Castle, shot in the chest and blown off a pier in an explosion set by Glass, survives and is nursed back to health by a local fisherman, Candelaria.
