I am a faculty member in the Department of Theoretical Physics of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) in Mumbai, India, and the head of a partner group of the Max Planck Institute of Astronomy (MPIA) of Heidelberg, Germany. My research is in the area of astrophysics and cosmology.
Biography. Girish Kulkarni was born in his native place Belagavi in a Kannada-speaking family and grew up in Marathi-speaking Pune. He completed his bachelor's degree in electrical and electronics engineering from VNIT Nagpur, his master's degree in physics from TIFR Mumbai, and his doctorate in physics from IIT Kanpur.
Marathi actor Girish Kulkarni won this year's National award for Best Actor .This award winning performance came in film Deool which also won National award for best film of the year . He won the National award for the best screenplay too for the same film.
