Noted Urdu Poet and literary critic Khaleel-ur-Rahman Azmi was born at Sedhan Sultanpur. His father Maulana Mohammad Shafi was a very pious man. Khaleel did his doctorate (Ph.D.) in Urdu from Aligarh Muslim University in 1957.
