    Most of the videos are over 10 minutes long, and there are playlist that contain various different types of videos based on genre. There are community post which showcase videos by other YouTubers that go over living in China and or other topics such as updates on the statistics of the channel.

    His channel's name of laowhy86 translates from Chinese as "Old Foreigner 86", and he sells merchandise with the Chinese characters of this. The about page has different channels with a summary of each channel's content, and there is a video about pro-Chinese video content on CBC News.

    Almost all of the videos show his face in either a webcam or natively in the video itself, and on AVDChina, he rides a motorcycle with Serpentza in a vlog discussing various topics. He was interviewed by China Uncensored on demonetization.

    He is originally from upstate New York before moving to China and then Long Beach, California.
