Dr. Ashok was born in Jalandhar, Punjab. He attended D. R. Jain National High School, Jalandhar Cantt. He holds an LLB degree from University Regional Campus, Jalandhar, and Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. Later, he was conferred with Honoris Causa Doctorate degree by Atal Bihari Vajpayee Vishwavidyalaya, Chhattisgarh.
