Massapequa Park is an incorporated village located within the southern portion of the Town of Oyster Bay in Nassau County, on the South Shore of Long Island, in New York. The population was 17,008 at the 2010 census.
Massapequa Park was incorporated as a Village in 1931 with Peter F. Colleran presiding as the First Mayor. The first Village Justice was Judge Michael J. Brady. Brady and Colleran Parks are named for these two men who were so instrumental in the development of the Village.

The Village of Massapequa Park is one of the 534 incorporated villages in the State of New York. The 2.2 square mile area ranging from the Southern State Park to the Great South Bay was first incorporated as a village in 1931 and is 2.2 square miles.
The settlement of Massapequa happened around 1658 when it was purchased by Town of Oyster by merchants from the local tribe led by Chief Tackapausha. 1900's. Massapequa was still a small town when the second World War broke out, with a population of 3,000 people.
The area's population exploded in 1928 after the New York Times published several advertisements about the newly founded area “Massapequa Park”. To maintain control of land use and other general issues, the town became an incorporated village. In 1931, The Incorporated Village of Massapequa Park was created.
