Voyage of the Acolyte is the first studio album by English guitarist, songwriter, and singer Steve Hackett, released in October 1975 on Charisma Records as his only album recorded and released while he was a member of Genesis.

After its release in October 1975, the Genesis guitarist made two more albums with them: February 1976’s A Trick Of The Tail and December 1976’s Wind & Wuthering. Indeed, Hackett wouldn’t bow out of Genesis until after their May 1977 EP Spot The Pigeon.

When Hackett released Voyage of the Acolyte in October 1975, he was still a member of Genesis. It was another three years before he released his next album, and 11 before he co-founded the rock ‘supergroup’ GTR in 1986.
Hackett joined Genesis in 1971, after the departure of original guitarist Anthony Phillips. In the same sense that Chris Squire’s solo album Fish Out of Water was called the lost Yes album, Voyage of the Acolyte became the missing Genesis record.
