- Grumpy old fart. Whitesburg, KY18 contributions. Bad Branch Falls. It's a small flow but high falls. It is an easy 1/2 mile ultra scenic walk, with the last 1/4 mile a hard climb through a rock garden.

The Little Shepherd Trail. This one-lane but paved road runs along the top of Pine Mountain (sharing the Pine Mountain State Nature Trail) for about twelve miles from the point where US Route 119 cuts across the top of Pine Mountain south to Kingdom Come State Park over in Harlan County.
Those 339 square miles hold some wondrous rock-climbing, hiking, camping, hunting, and exploring, not to mention wildlife (black bears, cougars, elk, etc.). You can hike the Pine Mountain State Scenic Trail, also called Pine Mountain Trail State Park. Click here and here for information.
