All in all, if you don't need to use Alpha-transparent images and support IE6, PNG is probably the better choice when you need pixel-perfect images for vector illustrations and such. JPG is unbeatable for photographs.

I am writing an application for camera which need to send video but my camera unit supports jpeg and mjpeg. whats the advantage of motion JPEG over JPEG. Thanks for any advise

  6. Aug 9, 2013 · 1. Android runs on Linux operating system, which is case sensitive. If the file has the extension in lowercase, like this: ".jpg", so you should refer in the source code. If the file has the extension ".JPG", also, the same should be written in code. My path and file extensions are correct.

  7. Feb 24, 2012 · The only difference I can see with the other pictures is that this one has a capitalized ".JPG" extension instead of a lowercase ".jpg" one. However, if I try to rename the file to a lowercase extension Windows 7 just capitalizes it again. Any help on this issue would be much appreciated. Best regards, Kurt Peek. P.S.

It is a format for exchanging JPEG encoded files compliant with the JPEG Interchange Format (JIF) standard. It solves some of JIF's limitations in regard to simple JPEG encoded file interchange.
