Pacific Open Learning Health Net (POLHN / ˈ p ɒ l h ən /) is a non-profit established in 2003, focused on distance education for health professionals working in the Pacific. Since 2004, it has provided free online courses for continuing professional development in a wide range of health and science related disciplines.
The Pacific Open Learning Health Net went live in 2003 as a result of preliminary discussions at the Pacific Health Minister’s Meetings in 1999 and 2001 as an open learning service for healthcare professionals in the Pacific.
In 2003, WHO with funding from the government of Japan and in response to requests from Pacific Health Ministries established the Pacific Open Learning Health Network (POLHN) [2] to assist in meeting the needs for continuing education through open learning.
