Allan Hancock College is a public community college in Santa Maria, California. History. In 1920 Allan Hancock College was started by the Santa Maria High School District. Originally called Santa Maria Junior College, classes were held until eventually a bond was passed that allowed them to build a wing specifically for the college.
Due to the district’s limited financial resources and space, and due to the special educational needs of international students, the Allan Hancock Joint Community College District reserves the right to limit the number of F-1 international students admitted each year.
From this time forward, the Allan Hancock College has grown and in 1963, the Allan Hancock Joint Community College District was created. The college has now grown to four campuses and offers a large variety of courses including online classes.
Apr 30, 2024 · In 1963, the Lompoc Unified School District and Santa Ynez Union High School District were annexed to the community college district, and the district was renamed the Allan Hancock Joint Community College District.
