Sep 26, 2020 · Jeff Wayne originally discovered The War Of The Worlds as a kid after reading HG Wells’ The Time Machine and seeing the 1953 movie version of TWOTW. His subsequent interest in adapting it into a musical work was piqued by the story’s analogous social comment.
The full novel was first published in hardcover in 1898 by William Heinemann. The War of the Worlds is one of the earliest stories to detail a conflict between humankind and an extraterrestrial race. [3]
