Aug 30, 2024 · Sangrur, town, southeastern Punjab state, northwestern India. It is situated about 30 miles (50 km west-southwest of Patiala. The town was founded in the 17th century and became the capital of the former princely state of Jind. In 1948 it acceded to the Indian union along with other princely states.
