This movie is a definite classic of Spike Lee's [1991] with Wesley Snipes and Annabella Sciorra. But at the same time you also have Spike in there as well as John Turturro, Anthony Quinn, Frank Vincent, Samuel L Jackson and so many other big names before they became big names in Hollywood.
Nice job. I do agree that the Gator subplot is rather unnecessary, and this points to one of Spike Lee's two biggest flaws as a filmmaker IMO - his desire to pack in as much as he can into every screenplay.

Still worth watching but really messy. Review by Wesley Stenzel ★★★ Jungle Fever ’s first forty minutes set up fantastic conflict and introduce a solid cast, including excellent performances from Wesley Snipes, Samuel L. Jackson, Ossie Davis, and Halle Berry.

Jungle Fever may be 30 years old, but it’s still as relevant as ever. Lee once again proves himself to be a master storyteller, managing to cram in a variety of social issues into just over two hours of non-stop drama.
