Officer Downe debuted at the Los Angeles Film Festival on June 2.
The comic book-based Officer Downe begins with an over-the-top voiceover, the kind of thing that viewers might worry about – is it supposed to be this silly or did someone badly judge how the speech would sound? The very next scene clears up any sort of confusion – it's a sex scene complete with an "orgasm counter" down at the bottom of the screen. Officer Downe is played for laughs.
Well, it's played for laughs and for the opportunity to offer up gruesome and extreme levels of violence. Directed by M. Shawn Crahan (yes, of Slipknot) and written by Joe Casey (who created the comic with Chris Burnham), Officer Downe is best described as a highly-stylized, bloody, and at times just plain weird movie.
Officer Downe has nearly every element it needs to be an over-the-top, gross-out, truly funny, deeply weird, comic book adaptation, and some driving music to boot. Jun 1, 2016 · "Officer Downe" is extremely violent, wildly sexual and doesn't present a fully fleshed-out narrative. In short, this is not the kind of story that major Hollywood studios are fighting each other to sign a deal for.
