Aug 26, 2011 · Gibson has released an expanded line of limited-edition Melody Maker guitars. Originally introduced as a student model, just as the Les Paul Junior was, the Melody Maker became a player’s favorite for its light weight, comfortable neck, and great tone.
The Gibson Melody Maker is an absolutely legendary Gibson solid body guitar. It isn't necessarily at the top of the list of classic models, but just in terms of sales it was absolutely huge, with over 47000 Melody Makers shipped in a relatively short period between 1959 and 1970.
The affordable Melody Maker became Gibson's best-selling solidbody guitar by the mid-1960s. It also followed design changes similar to the Les Paul Junior with the introduction of a rounded double-cutaway body in 1961, and then an SG-style body in 1963.
