The Chandragiri fort is believed to have been built around 1000 CE during the reign of Immadi Narasinga Yadavaraya, a Karvetinagra Chieftain of Narayanavaram (now a small village near Chandragiri). This hill fortress was under the Yadavarayas, a local dynasty, for about three centuries.
