Amroha is a city in the state of Uttar Pradesh in India. It is located north-west of Moradabad , near the Ganga River . It is the administrative headquarters of Amroha district .
Amroha is one of the 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh state in northern India. Amroha town is the district headquarters. According to the Government of India, the district is one of the Minority Concentrated Districts on the basis of the 2001 census data on population, socio-economic indicators and basic amenities indicators.
District Amroha lies in the west of Moradabad District adjoining district Hapur, Sambhal and Buland Shahar, Bijnor. The district came into being on 24th April 1997. The district is comprised of erstwhile three tahsils viz Amroha, Dhanaura and Hasanpur of district Moradabad.
