Pathanamthitta ( IPA: [pɐt̪ːɐnɐn̪d̪iʈːɐ] ), is a municipality situated in the Southern Kerala, India, spread over an area of 23.50 km 2. It is the administrative capital of Pathanamthitta district. The town has a population of 37,538 (as of 2011 census).
Pathanamthitta is a landlocked district, located at 9°16′N 76°47′E, spanning over an area of 2,637 square kilometres (1,018.15 sq mi). [11] The district is bordered by the districts Kottayam and Idukki districts in the north, Alappuzha district in the west, Kollam district in the south.
The district headquarters is at Pathanamthitta town. The district administration is headed by the District Collector. The District Collector is assisted by five Deputy Collectors holding charges of general matters, revenue recovery, land acquisition, land reforms, election and Disaster Management.
