Erin Dignam (born July 20, 1955) is an American film director, screenwriter and former professional tennis player. A native of California, Dignam qualified for the singles main draw of the 1977 Wimbledon Championships. Dignam directed and wrote the films Denial (1990) and Loved (1997), both starring actress Robin Wright.

Loved is a 1997 psychological drama film directed by Erin Dignam and starring Robin Wright Penn and William Hurt. Plot. Hedda Amerson is a woman who was once involved in an abusive relationship with her ex-husband, whose abuse impacted her once-promising career in swimming.
Before shooting, Wright brought on her colleague and friend Erin Dignam, who directed the star in two features, Loved and Denial, that she also wrote. Dignam not only tweaked the screenplay to fit the production’s needs but also added touches that embraced Wright’s unique talents as an actress.
