King Khalid University serves the sparsely populated Aseer region of Southern Saudi Arabia. It inherited the Abha campus of King Saud University and was inaugurated by the College of Education in 1976. It has steadily expanded to the point where it has about 60,000 students enrolled in 29 colleges.
