David Clarence Boon MBE (born 29 December 1960) is an Australian cricket match referee, former cricket commentator and international cricketer whose international playing career spanned the years 1984–1996.

David Boon was a right-hand batter who played 107 Tests and 181 ODIs for Australia, scoring 7422 and 5964 runs respectively. He also led Durham and Tasmania, and became an ICC match referee after retirement.

- Born in Launceston. Boon was born in the Tasmanian town of Launceston. His father Clarrie worked in a news agency and had been a sports administrator. His mother Lesley was an Australian women’s hockey player.
- Spotted at the age of 10. When Boon was 10 years old, his talent was recognised by Jack Simmons, who was an all-rounder with Lancashire. Simmons spotted Boon when he was around in Launceston coaching.
- First-Class debut at the age of 17. In December 1978, Boon became one of the youngest to represent Tasmania when he made his debut for them at the age of 17.
- Age group cricket. David Boon represented Australia Schoolboys and Australia under-19. In fact, in his first game for Australia Schoolboys, he had scored a hundred while batting at No 9.
