3 is the third game in the Crackdown franchise. It was announced at E3 2014, originally exclusively for Xbox One. The world of Crackdown is back with an all-new experience for Xbox One. Developed by original creator Dave Jones, Crackdown 3 will deliver verticality, cooperative mayhem, and destruction.
A sequel, Crackdown 3 was released in 2019 for Microsoft Windows and Xbox One. The original game's director, David Jones, also worked on Crackdown 3. The game was supposed to release in 2016 but was pushed back multiple times until it was finally released to mixed reviews from critics, but negative reception from audiences, who found it downgraded from the first game's visuals and effects as well as tone-down destruction, repetitive missions, enemies, wonky driving physics, and boring Wrecking Zone mode, while voice-acting, power-ups, and rooftop races are praised.
From out of nowhere, a new enemy attacked. Major metropolitan areas were hit with a never-before-seen form of elemental warfare, plunged into darkness and chaos. 3 was announced at E3 in June 2014, simply titled Crackdown. It was envisioned to have the same futuristic look of the first game, but would follow an alternative timeline before the events of Crackdown 2.
•One of Crackdown 3's loading screens gives us some evidence that Crackdown takes place sometime around 2019. As it states that the Agency began dismantling criminal organisations by 2019 - however this is only mentioned once in the loading screen.
