    • Kneecap. With song such as Get Your Brits Out and Fenian Cunts, and a merchandise line (and hometown mural) featuring a police Land Rover in flames, Belfast's Irish-language hip-hop trio Kneecap aren't afraid of making provocative artistic statements, a stance which has earned them criticism from politicians across the political divide in Northern Ireland.
    • M(h)aol. "M(h)aol’s debut album has the power to break down walls and kick over statues; it needs to be put on school curriculums and broadcast from rooftops and vans; its lyrics need to be printed out and xeroxed and made into pamphlets and distributed on every street corner."
    • The Dubliners. In our opinion, the Dubliners are one of the best Irish bands around. Founded in 1962, The Dubliners were a successful Irish folk band for over 50 years, although there was a steady change in the line-up over the decades.
    • The Pogues. Fronted by Shane MacGowan, The Pogues took their name from the Irish phrase póg mo thóin, meaning “kiss my arse”. One of the top Irish groups prominent in the ‘80s and early ‘90s, their apex was the classic recording of ‘Fairytale of New York’.
    • U2. As one of the most famous Irish bands to ever form, U2 are synonymous with the expressive vocals of lead singer/guitarist Bono along with “The Edge”, Adam Clayton on bass guitar and Larry Mullen Jr.
    • The Chieftains. If you like the haunting sounds of Irish Uilleann Pipes (like bagpipes) The Chieftains instrumental music is sure to appeal. The Chieftains formed in Dublin in 1962 and helped popularise Irish music internationally, quickly becoming one of the best Irish bands on the trad scene.

    • The Cranberries. The Cranberries - Linger (Official Music Video) It might surprise you that The Cranberries started as an all-male band with lead singer Niall Quinn in 1989.
    • U2. With Or Without You (Live From Milan) U2 started in Dublin, Ireland, in 1976 and consisted of the lead singer Paul David Hewson (better known as Bono), David Evans (now known as The Edge), Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen Jr.
    • The Corrs. Forgiven, Not Forgotten. The Corrs were huge in the 90s with their blend of folk rock with some very obvious Celtic roots. Based out of County Louth, this family band first got together in 1990 and immediately focused on producing pop rock with a family-friendly nature.
    • The Boomtown Rats. The Boomtown Rats - I Don't Like Mondays (Live Aid 1985) Fronted by Bob Geldof, this band pushed themselves to the front of the art-punk and rock genre in the 80s.
