Payback (with Mel Gibson)-The Director's Cut is worth checking out if you liked the original version. I've always liked Payback. Mel Gibson at his peak, playing the bad guy, great cast of characters (Gregg Henry at his sleazy best) along with great turns by James Coburn, William Devane, David Paymer (and who can forget Lucy Liu ("Hubba, hubba.").

However, Payback is a much better film than I thought it would be. There are sufficient differences to make the story interesting and though it is told in a much more straightforward and, dare I say, 'safe' way than Point Blank, it is a very well made film and tells a compelling story well.
Feb 5, 1999 · The film has a very good story, somewhat slow at first but pleasant overall, and full of action and moments of ironic and intelligent humor. The pace is good, the film has energy and had a good editing. Mel Gibson is the man of the movie.
